Call of Duty, what a patriotic name for a war game, especially if it has to do with historic wars such as World War II or the Gulf War. In this fifth delivery from Call of Duty, we can see something that many of us wanted to see long time ago: Modern warfare, and in Call of Duty 4, we get to see lots of this. The 4th part of this great shooter game, which has been awarded many times and has many fans, me included, has tons of action, bullets and adrenaline. The “no one fights alone” slogan was a very good hook to fish many gamers who liked to play in teams. Unlike other FPS (First Person Shooter) games, where the player has to overcome any number of levels and obstacles alone, Call of Duty, in all of its parts, has created a scenario where the player is with two or more bots who fight with him in order to achieve the mission’s goals; of course, the main part is played by the gamer (it wouldn’t make sense to buy a game where the computer plays against itself). In this Modern Warfare part, the player can feel him/herself like a real Marine or a SAS element; there are many machine guns (which many FPS players like) rocket launchers and sniper rifles with laser beams or silencers that make the experience more realistic. This new version of the game shows how different current war is from older times; now the fights are fought in urban scenarios, and not in wide open fields as they were during both World Wars or Vietnam. Instead of a large journey to Berlin in the hunt for Hitler, Call of Duty Modern Warfare is divided in three parts. The first part consists in several missions as a SAS agent lead by Captain Price, the second as a marine lead by Lt Vazquez in some missions inside the Persian Gulf. The third part is a joint operation in search for a bloody Russian terrorist… An epilogue is included in this game and I’m sure many will find it very exciting. The game ending is really unexpected (it almost made me shed a couple of tears ) and it is not exactly a happy ending, but, anyway, none of the war stories I have read has this kind of ending. If you like FPS games, this game is a MUST in your game collection, the story is good, the missions are awesome, the weapons are state-of-the art and the realism and graphics are really good. Don’t miss it.
